Tungod sa malungtarong pamaagi sa pagpanguma sa dagat, napadayon namo ang among tradisyon kag kultura. Ang pagtrabaho sa dagat nagtudlo kanako sa pagkamainampuon, pasensya, ug pagtinabangay. Kini nga panginabuhian naghatag kanamo og paglaum ug kalipay sa among isla.
Seaweed is our livelihood here on our island. I am one of the residents who depend on the sea for our way of life. Our lives here are stable because of seaweed farming. Every morning, I ride a small boat with my family to check on our seaweed lines. We take care of them like crops on land, nurturing them until they are ready to harvest. After drying, we sell the seaweed in the market to earn income and support our daily needs. I am deeply thankful for seaweed farming because it not only provides us with income, but also helps preserve our environment. Through sustainable methods of sea cultivation, we are able to continue our traditions and culture. Working at sea has taught me to be prayerful, patient, and cooperative. This livelihood brings us hope and happiness on our island.
Ang Isla sa Bantayan nahimutang sa tunga sa Dagat Bisyano ug Kipot sa Tañon sa sentro sa Pilipinas. Kining kapupud-an nabahin sa tulo ka nagkalainlaing munisipyo. Ang mga tawo sa isla kasagaran nagdepende sa dagat para sa ilang panginabuhian, maong kining mga islaha gilangkuban sa daghang komunidad sa mga mangingisda diha sa kabbaybayonan. The Bantayan Group of Islands is located between the Visayan Sea and the Tanon Straight in the center of the Philippines. This archipelago is divided into three separate municipalities. The islanders mainly depend on the sea for their livelihood, thus these islands consist of many coastal fishing communities. There are more than 700 compressor divers in the municipality of Bantayan alone. Compressor diving is a dangerous and desperate form of fishing and is a result of overfishing, illegal fishing and lack of proper law enforcement.
